Management of Acute Colitis and Toxic Megacolon.
CPAM classification was first proposed by Stocker et al in 1977 46 and was recently updated by Stocker, 47 expanding from 3 to 5 types. With this expansion, the old nomenclature of cystic adenomatoid malformations was replaced by CPAM. This term is more accurate given that only 3 of 5 types are cystic and only 1 type has adenomatoid changes. The revised Stocker classification includes 5 types.
The most used classification of ARMs is that of Krickenbeck’s. It considers the location of the rectal pouch related to the pubo-rectal sling and distinguishes two main types, each of them having different prognosis and requiring a different surgical approach. In the low-type ARMs, the rectal pouch is located below the pubo-rectal sling whereas in the intermediate-high type, the pouch is.
The less common variant is a chondromanubrial deformity (Currarino-Silverman syndrome) that produces manubrial and upper sternal protrusion, and the more common is a chondrogladiolar deformity that results in protrusion of the middle and lower sternum (, Fig 4,,,) (, 24,, 25).
Anterior myelomeningoceles may occur as part of the Currarino triad, which comprises an anorectal malformation, a sacrococcygeal osseous defect, and a presacral mass (3). The associated presacral mass may be a teratoma, anterior sacral meningocele, dermoid cyst, hamartoma, or enteric duplication cyst and is autosomal dominant in more than 50% of patients. Other associated congenital.
IMAGING OF. PRESACRAL MASSES. speaker: kiran. MODERATOR: PROF.O.P. SHARMA INTRODUCTION Mass present between perirectal fascia and the sacrococcygeal part of spine. Imaging plays an important role in the detection and differentiation of these masses. Information obtained is critical for management ,especially surgical planning. Usual symptoms are ,change in bowel habits, low back and sacral pain.
